Xeriscape Design
Full landscape redesign for drought resilience. Plant selection, hardscape planning, drainage, and irrigation spec — delivered as a comprehensive planting plan.
Read More →Drought-resilient landscape design rooted in Texas ecology. We build xeriscapes, native gardens, and rain harvesting systems that look extraordinary and survive Austin summers without punishing water bills.
StoneMoss Garden Co. was founded in 2009 by Elena Vasquez, a soil scientist turned landscape designer who was tired of watching Austin homeowners spend thousands on water-hungry lawns that struggled through every summer. The idea was simple: build landscapes calibrated to Texas ecology, not borrowed from wetter climates.
Every StoneMoss project begins with a soil analysis and a water budget. We design to the land, not against it — selecting plants for their root depth, drought tolerance, and ecological function rather than just their appearance in a nursery catalogue.
Every design decision starts with soil health, water budget, and plant-climate fit. Beauty follows from ecological soundness.
Texas natives evolved for Texas conditions. We build with them because they work, not because they're fashionable.
We calculate irrigation requirements at the plant level and design every system to match. Our clients see the numbers, not just the promise.
From initial soil survey to long-term seasonal maintenance — every discipline is led by a certified horticulturist.

We produce a full planting plan with species list, irrigation spec, and phased implementation schedule calibrated to your budget.
Our crew handles site prep, soil amendment, planting, hardscape, and irrigation installation. Typically 2–5 days for residential projects.

Genuine client experiences. Results may vary by property type and conditions.
"Our water bill dropped by 58% after the xeriscape install. But honestly the biggest surprise was how beautiful it looks — our neighbours keep asking who designed it. StoneMoss completely changed how I think about Austin landscaping."
"Elena walked us through every plant choice and explained the soil science behind the design. We'd tried two other landscapers who just threw in whatever plants looked good at the nursery. This was a completely different level of expertise."
"The rain harvesting system StoneMoss installed gave us enough stored water to get through last summer's drought with zero municipal supplemental irrigation. It paid for itself in two seasons."
